Cath Dunn



I am a painter based in Walkley, Sheffield (and occasionally Edinburgh). I have come recently to printmaking and particularly enjoy the different textures that printmaking allows: from the smoothness of a linear linocut to the graininess of some etchings. Much of my subject matter is loosely based on natural forms – rocks, trees, the lie of the land – though my primary interest lies in pattern, abstraction and stylization. Currently I would describe my work as semi-abstract but with a long-term aim of working towards greater abstraction. For me there is a close connection between painting and printmaking. I often use prints, particularly intaglio types, as a basis for paintings and I also use paintings as a basis for printmaking. Some examples of my recent printmaking work can be found at
