Having had a lifelong interest in the practice of art in various forms and having participated in courses in painting and life drawing I have become involved in more recent years in the practice of printmaking, which has led to membership of Sheffield Printmakers. This experience has sat alongside study and involvement in the history of fine and applied arts, including the curation of various collections.
My particular printmaking interest lies in collagraph. My work is generally figurative and arises from long term interest in the natural world ( particularly plants – and I am also a keen birdwatcher) and the built environment. Before my involvement in printmaking I spent many years working in pastel and oil and this inevitably feeds into my current collagraph work. In fact I am particularly attracted to collagraph because of its variety and flexibility and the fact that it offers the opportunity to work in a linear graphic way combined with a more painterly one. Its possibilities seem endless.
