I graduated from Newcastle University in 2006 and making monoprints and monotypes has become part of my practice. As a painter I love this painterly form of printmaking that always throws up surprises in colour, form and texture. It also provides ideas and starting points for larger works. I am inspired by the natural world and all its fluid forms and colours. Working to music also helps create the mood and development of the work. I add layers of colour sometimes making torn or cut stencils as I go. This printing process provides a framework for my spontaneity. Although each work is unique with this particular printing process I make small collections based on particular themes and ideas; themes that I often revisit to discover new forms.
