Mandy Payne

I am a painter and a printmaker. I am interested in exploring many different processes both in my painting and my printmaking and find that the two different practices feed in to each other.
My work is inspired by landscape both rural and urban. My rural pieces are usually concerned with the moors and woodlands of the Peak District.
My urban work has recently involved exploring Park Hill, the Grade II * listed Sheffield council estate.
My printing practice is varied and I have investigated many techniques including etching, lino, monoprints, screen print and collagraphs. I am particularly drawn to monoprinting as it links well with my love of drawing and painting. I also enjoy the flat planes of colour and sharp lines produced by lino prints and the myriad of textures that can be achieved with collagraphs.
All my working life has been spent in the NHS but in 2010 I completed a part-time HND in Fine Art at Sheffield College and then a BA Fine Art degree course at Nottingham University where I graduated last summer. I am now working as a full time artist.
My work has been exhibited in galleries in Sheffield, London, Nottingham and Derby.
